Dr. Mamoona Munir

Biography:

Dr. Mamoona Munir, a native of Islamabad (Pakistan), is plant taxonomists by profession working as an Assistant Professor in the Rawalpindi Women University (RWU), 6th road, Satellite Town Rawalpindi, Punjab, which is one of the reputable university of Punjab Province. Besides her major responsibilities in university, Dr. Munir is working as Head of Botany Department, QEC coordinator, Focal person for Science society and member of hostel management of RWU. Her major research interest are energy crops, medicinal plants, phytochemistry, green nanotechnology and phylogenetic, neutraceuticals and ethnobotany, catalysis etc. She has more than five years of research and teaching experience in the field of Botany, catalysis and renewable energy. She added valuable contribution to the renewable energy sector and catalysis. She has published more than 40 original research articles in well reputed international journals on biodiesel, taxonomy, catalysis, and green nanotechnology. She has developed novel and cost effective method to synthesize eco-friendly, stable and reusable diverse heterogeneous and nanoparticles for synthesizing sustainable biodiesel via novel non-edible oil seeds. She has published more than 150 impact factor articles (h-index: 25), a book and book chapters. Dr. Munir has been contributing actively for strengthening the scientific landscape in the region.

Brief statement of Research Interest:

She is driven to investigate the areas of authentication and identification of medicinal plants, novel non edible oil seeds, synthesis of diverse metal oxide nanoparticles, functional nanocomposites, and waste material based nano particels, green sysnthesis, kinetics, herbal medicines, biodiversity conservation, digital herbarium management, and establishing botanical garden. Her research experiences include strong background in biodiesel synthesis from novel non edible oil seeds, taxonomic implications of medicinal plants, phytochemical analysis and green synthesis of nanoparticles using different medicinal plants.
