Dr. Humaira Aziz Sawal

Biography:

I did BS in Biotechnology from University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Than M.Phil in Virology and Immunology and PhD in Applied Biosciences (Specialization in Neurogenetics) from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Pakistan. I performed my doctoral research in Neurogenetics at Centre of Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) University of Toronto, Canada, under the supervision of Prof. John B.Vincent. My PhD research was based on “Gene Mapping in Families with Complex Neurogenetic Syndromes”.

Brief statement of Research Interest:

I believe that I am a strong candidate for this position as a PhD who possesses the skills you are seeking. My job experiences are robust which include research experience. I have a strong profile in research with 13 publications (includes 3 bioinformatics publications and few more in pipeline) and 1 book chapter. Moreover I have completed a project entitled “To determine the de novo pathogenic variants in autosomal recessive disorders and their association with phenotype” as a principal investigator.
My courses supplement my work experience and provides a foundation to work on neurobiology. I have a strong background in cell and molecular biology, structural biology, genetics, genomics, proteomics, cell signalling, neurobiology, epigenetics, biotechnology and bioinformatics. I have an excellent command on R language and Next Generation Sequencing along with its data analysis of large human datasets by using bioinformatics. I am very passionate to work on computational algorithms.
I have good communication skills and work in a professional way. I can easily adapt myself to work in new environment and interested to learn novel techniques.
