Outcome Based Education (OBE)

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Rawalpindi Women University has organized a two-day capacity-building workshop for the faculty of Rawalpindi Women University on 18th -19th October 2022.  The title of the session was Outcome Based Education (OBE). Prof. Dr Junaid Ali Khan, Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences, HITEC University, Taxila was invited as a resource person.

During this interactive session, the resource person addressed the notion of OBE, its significance for teaching and learning, and how it could be implemented into daily instruction. Participants engaged in lively discussion throughout the workshop, demonstrating an interest in the assessment methods of CLOs, PLOs, and PEOs, the core components of the OBE system. During the workshop, it was underlined that the OBE system is a successful method for effective teaching and learning, through which classroom problems are discovered and corrective measures are implemented, resulting in an overall improvement in the quality of education.

Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, Vice Chancellor, Rawalpindi Women University applauded the effort of the Resource Person and all of the participants for their enthusiasm and engagement during the sessions.

Online Training on Online Assessment Tools

January 30 2021 QEC conducted an online training on Online Assessment Tools via ZOOM for the faculty taking FA/FSc classes. The objective was to introduce tools for online quizzes and formative assessments. Two members of QEC Ms. Zakia Khanum Assistant Professor Geography and Ms. Fatima Seerat Assistant Professor English gave comprehensive demo on Quizzes.Com and KAHOOT. 25 participants attended 2 and half hour training sessions and majority of them generated their first subject quiz following instructions of the two trainers. for follow up each member has worked on designing at least 3 online quizzes and take online assessment of their students. The feedback from trainees is highly encouraging. A follow up online activity is being scheduled for the award of certificates and best three demos by the trainees.

Four Online Class Readiness Trainings (ORT 1,2,3& 4) conducted by Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Faisalabad Medical University, Prof. Dr. Jameel Ahmad Qazi, Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology, School of International Business & Management Canada, Ms. Anum Zahra Assistant Professor Psychology & Ms. Fatima Seerat Assistant Professor English.

 A training/workshop session was organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell, Rawalpindi Women University, Rawalpindi for the faculty development. The session was on the topic “Elevating Education: Quality Assurance in Modern Teaching Philosophy and Advanced Thinking” which involved discussion and hands-on training on the evolving educational landscape and ensuring high standards of education as a  paramount. This session delved into the imperative for quality assurance, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, and fostering innovation in teaching methodologies. Dr. Afshan Huma, Head of the Department of Educational Planning Policy Studies and Leadership at Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, a renowned expert in the field led these insightful sessions. Dr. Baqir Husnain, Director QEC/EL, welcomed the guests to RWU and also added his insights to this session. Dr. Baqir briefed the faculty with the importance of these training sessions, why the session was essential for the capacity building of the faculty and how the training modules were specially designed keeping in mind the needs of faculty and the interest of the Vice Chancellor. The session aimed to empower our faculty members with advanced thinking skills, equipping them to integrate cutting-edge educational philosophies into their practices. The ultimate goal was to overall elevate the quality of education at RWU! The faculty members wholeheartedly embraced the sessions, reflecting the enthusiasm and dedication of RWU’s academic community.

Training programme on Internal Quality Assurance mechanism i.e. Self-Assessment Reports

The Rawalpindi Women’s University’s Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organized a one-day December 06, 2022 training programme on Internal Quality Assurance mechanism i.e. Self-Assessment Reports. The workshop was arranged to provide training on Self-Assessment Reports to the Program team, Assessment Team, and QEC Coordinators of the academic departments. The resource person was Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmad, Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the National University of Science & Technology, Islamabad. Dr. Riaz expounded on the process of self-assessment, the aims of self-assessment, and the roles of Program teams (PTs) and Assessment Teams (ATs); he also discussed with the faculty the criteria for programme mission, objectives, and outcomes, as well as the formulation and design of the programme and courses.

A training session on SARs preparation and quality assurance at Rawalpindi Women University was organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell. Led by Dr. Erum Zarief Monis, a Quality Assurance expert from the National University of Medical Sciences, and enriched by insights from Mr. Humayun Awan, Deputy Director of Quality Assurance at Allama Iqbal Open University, the session aimed to illuminate the path to excellence for Assessment and Program Teams.

Focused on HEC-QAA parameters, the training reinforced RWU’s commitment to quality enhancement, ensuring that the university exceeds the highest education standards. Dr. Baqir Husnain, Director QEC/EL, emphasized the importance of quality assurance. The enthusiasm displayed by the teams reflects a collective dedication to educational excellence.
