BS Statistics
Objectives
Statistics is an important branch of science, and the subject facilitates us to make decisions in different areas of life. The department of Statistics not only offers training in the application of statistical techniques, but also updates the learner’s knowledge about the latest theoretical developments in the field. It offers a BS program in Statistics. This program provides essential instruction in statistical methods, applications, and theory. The major aims and objectives of the curriculum of subjects in this program are to adapt the curriculum to meet the international standards and to provide a sound footing of the subject matter of statistical theory with applications, so that the students can pursue higher degrees and research in the field of statistics. Furthermore, this program focuses to train the students in the use of statistical softwares and techniques of data collection and analysis so that they can compete in the job market. It also provides the opportunity to involve the students in research projects so that they can be better trained in the field of research and to develop a solid foundation for the effective operational and strategic decisions based on statistical theory and methodology in almost every discipline.Eligibility Criteria :
- Intermediate or equivalent level with passing marks.
- Preferably statistics or Mathematics as an elective subject.
MS Statistics
Objectives
The postgraduate program in Statistics is specifically designed to enhance the career prospects and research expertise of the students and to enable them to contribute their expertise in different fields. The program provide a balance of statistical theory and practical applications. Graduate will demonstrate the ability to summarize a technical report and/ or statistical analysis and interpret results; also, show the ability for broader implication of application in the statistical field. The designed courses build students’ knowledge in all areas of statistics and enable them to promote collaborations and inter disciplinary relationship with other fields of studies.Eligibility Criteria :
- At least Sixteen years of education in Statistics / Mathematics with minimum CGPA of 2.0 on the scale of 4.00 (semester system) or minimum 50% marks in the annual examination system or 55% marks in the semester system examination where CGPA is not mentioned at terminal degree.
- NTS/GAT test with 50% score or university admission test with a minimum of 50% score is required to qualify the Departmental subject wise test.
